Parco Nazionale della Majella
The mountains of Maiella, with its 61 peaks, many higher than the 2 000 meters, is of limestone, characterized by deep valleys and canyons and cliffs dropping down into wooded hills.
The vegetation of the Majella National Park is very diverse, with a forest belt in the area below 1 000 meters, with oaks and maples, then, between 1 000m and 1 700m are the beech and 1 800m to 2 300m are the pine and juniper nugo nano.
The fauna includes specimens bear Marsicano, Apennine wolf, chamois, deer, roe deer and otters.
Among the most typical of the common within the park: Pescocostanzo, Pacentro, Guardiagrele and Caramanico.
